Hundreds Hit Chief’s Challenge Head-on

More than 600 Victoria Police employees took part in fundraising events across the state as part of the inaugural Chief’s Challenge, raising awareness and inclusion for those living with intellectual disabilities.

A total of 17 events were registered for the challenge in support of International Day of People with Disability, which is celebrated on 3 December each year.

LETR Victoria President Inspector Matt Volk said it was amazing to see the wide and innovative range of events that were organised in the challenge’s first year.

Events included torch runs, all-abilities cricket matches and providing police station tours or visiting local special schools. It was fantastic to see the innovation behind these events that raised nearly $4,000. More importantly, these events helped build stronger connections between Victoria Police and people in our community with disabilities.

“It was great to see so many employees take up the challenge and work so hard on the wide range of events.” Chief Commissioner Patton said, “The events that have taken place around Victoria are a credit to everyone involved and a wonderful example of inclusion and forming better relationships with people living with a disability.”
