Members of our Torch Run team are a pretty resilient lot but even they were tested to their limits when the incredible community of Hoppers Crossing swamped LETR’s second Bunnings Sausage Sizzle of 2023.
The team couldn’t keep up! It was all hands-on deck as crowds of hungry DYI-ers descended on the familiar Bunnings sausage sizzle tent for the traditional weekend sausage and to generously fill our donation tin.
Team leader Sergeant Dean Earp was forced to make more than a few dashes to the local supermarket as higher than expected demand meant that sausages ran out, bread ran out and onions ran out.
We couldn’t have done it without the hard work of the athletes of Special Olympics – Melbourne West whose dogged commitment to the production line kept our LETR sausage cooks on their toes.
Thank you to City of Wyndham and Mayor Susan McIntyre for coming along to meet our extraordinary athletes and to rally our team to help feed the amazing and generous (and hungry) community.
