It was a shock to the system for LETR’s Laureina and Rachel and eight Special Olympics Victoria golfers when they landed at the Gold Coast for the 2023 Special Olympics Australia national golf tournament.
After a long, wet and freezing Victorian winter, it took a moment for our LETR crew to adjust to a scorching Queensland day.
But not our champion athletes.
With their A-game on show, the eight Victorians took the heat and sun in their stride as they competed against 65 golfers from around the country at the stunning Palm Meadows Golf Court.
The team came away with one gold, one silver, two bronze, a fourth and two fifth place winners.
Not only that. Their hard work saw them bring Victoria home to fourth place in the interstate competition .
