Records tumble at IDoPwD celebration

The records kept tumbling at the 2023 International Day of People with Disabilities with LETR setting a new fundraising milestone and attracting the highest-ever athlete participation.

LETR and our Victorian athletes celebrated the day with a rowdy Torch Run through the busy streets of Melbourne with Chief Commissioner Shane Patton and Special Olympics Australia CEO Pierre Comis deep in the thick of it.

And this only one day after LETR staged the largest ever Torch Run at the Victoria Police Academy Glen Waverley.

Brandishing the Flame of Hope, our Special Olympics athlete leaders brushed aside the rain and the gloom to demonstrate to more than 200 police recruits exactly how a Torch Run occurs.

And just when we thought the 2023 IDoPwD couldn’t get any better, our friends at BankVic announced that LETR had broken yet another fundraising record.

That’s right, this year we raised $272,350!!!!!

Big thanks to BankVic and CEO Anthony De Fazio who is always there for us and our athletes.
