Berlin World Games 2023 are GO!

The Cauldron has been lit, the athletes are in the stadium, and the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin are GO GO GO!

The Guardians of the Flame including our very own chief Matt Volk successfully delivered the Flame of Hope to the world-renowned Olympistadion in Berlin to light the spectacular Cauldron and launch the 2023 World Games.

With the stadium at capacity with 50,000 spectators and with almost 7000 athletes on parade, the atmosphere was electric.

“It was a surreal experience,” Matt said from Berlin.

“Seeing the cauldron lit by the Flame of Hope that we had carried all the way from Athens and throughout Berlin was emotional.

“Our work here as the Guardians of the Flame is done. It’s over to Team Australia to show the world what they’ve got.

“Looking forward to getting around to all the venues over the next few days to watch the stars of the show.”

Thanks Matt. You’re work as one of the Guardians of Flame is done and it’s time to hand over to Team Australia to show the world what they are made of!

The Special Olympics World Games are on in Berlin from 17-25 June 2023. Follow the progress of our awesome athletes at https://ow.ly/UVRY50OR4Mg.
