The Final Leg is one of the signature events of the Special Olympics National Games, held every four years. Law Enforcement Officers carry the ‘Flame of Hope’ across Australia, culminating in the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony.
In 2026, the flame will travel via two national routes—WA to Melbourne and QLD to Melbourne—before both teams join to open the National Games.
2026 is also a significant year for Special Olympics Australia as it marks it’s 50th Year anniversary milestone further increasing the honour we have in Victoria to have been selected as the hosting state this year.
We would love for LETR/Victoria Police members and Special Olympics Athletes to join us at the BENDIGO Torch Run on 16th October 2026.
Please note: This is a light jog to a run, for those unable to complete this activity we welcome you to register and join us at Bendigo Town Hall for the Final Leg Ceremony following the Torch Run.
Further details surrounding start/finish times and locations will be distributed to registered attendees.Â
