LETR are seeking volunteers and athlete leaders to attend and assist with medal presentations at the Melbourne Inner East Tennis Club games on Saturday 19th September 2026 at Willison Park Tennis Club. LETR have also been asked to speak at the Opening of the event.

The Final Leg is one of the signature events of the Special Olympics National Games, held every four years. Law Enforcement Officers carry the ‘Flame of Hope’ across Australia, culminating in the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony.

In 2026, the flame will travel via two national routes—WA to Melbourne and QLD to Melbourne—before both teams join to open the National Games.
2026 is also a significant year for Special Olympics Australia as it marks it’s 50th Year anniversary milestone further increasing the honour we have in Victoria to have been selected as the hosting state this year.

LETR are seeking members and Athlete Leaders to attend and assist in Medal Presentations at the Melbourne Eastern Ranges Bocce Competition being held on 6th November 2026. Medal Presentations are expected to be held from 8:00pm.

Law Enforcement Torch Run is celebrating IDOPWD

All Victoria Police employees and volunteers are encouraged to come along and celebrate International Day of People with a Disability (observed annually on 3 December) by participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run on Friday, 4^th December 2026. Joining us for the run will be Special Olympics Athletes from across the state!

The route starts from the VPC and concludes on the Southern Riverbank where the Disability Sport and Recreation Festival will be taking place.
