Angela Taylor Memorial Walk/Run

Autumn could not have given us a more perfect morning for the 5km Fun Run to commemorate colleague Angela Taylor, tragically lost in the notorious 1986 bombing of the Russell Street police complex.

Held at Melbourne’s picturesque Albert Park Lake, the powerhouse athletes of Special Olympics Victoria joined our Torch Run team to take on Victoria’s finest as part of the annual event to honour Angela and raise funds for Victoria Police’s Blue Ribbon Foundation.

The teamwork and support were outstanding and congratulations to Special Olympics – Melbourne Inner East’s Tommy Giannessi who beat many a fine officer to take out the 18-38 year old category in the 5km walk. Legend.

Highlights include the fantastic Torch Run team spirit and the walkers who wondrously morphed into Olympic-like sprinters on sight of the free goodie bags waiting at the finish line. Hilarious!

Thanks to everyone who walked or ran (or sprinted at the finish line).

As always, thoughts are with Angela’s family.
